We use the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule™ (ADOS®-2), widely recognized as the 'gold standard' for Autism Diagnostic Assessments. This evaluation is suitable for individuals from 12 months old through adulthood who are suspected of having Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Our efficient process allows for completion in just one day, with sessions lasting 30 minutes to 1 hour. During this time, April's Trained Assessing Clinicians evaluate 3 key areas: Communication skills, Social interactions, Imaginative use of materials.
This comprehensive approach ensures a thorough and accurate assessment of potential ASD indicators.
We understand that seeking an autism diagnosis can be a confusing and stressful time for caregivers and individuals looking for guidance. Our patient and caring assessors are here to support you through the entire process:
1. Initial Interview
We begin with a brief interview to gather information about the individual's presenting symptoms.
2. Comfortable Assessment Environment
The evaluation takes place in a quiet, comfortable setting designed to put the individual at ease.
3. Interactive Evaluation
During the assessment, the individual engages in play and interacts with our assessors using fun and reinforcing activities.
4. Parent/Caregiver Involvement
We encourage parents and caregivers to join the assessment to help elicit responses and provide a familiar environment for the individual.
5. Professional Observation
Throughout the session, our trained assessors carefully observe communication skills, social interactions, and use of materials.
Our goal is to make the evaluation process as smooth and stress-free as possible while gathering the necessary information for an accurate assessment.
